Q: How does Viper work?

Viper scans your document against over 10 billion resources for any areas of plagiarism. Potential plagiarism will be highlighted with a side-by-side comparison giving you a web link to the potential plagiarised text. As a result, Viper makes it easy for you to identify and changeany material which you may have plagiarised accidentally.

Q: Is there an instruction manual for Viper?

Q: Will Viper work on my Mac or Windows Machine?

Viper is being developed to work all operating systems, including Mac and Linux. Viper only currently works on every version of Windows, including Vista.

Q: What type of file formats does Viper scan?

Viper scans all file formats including: .doc, .docx, .pdf, .html, .odt, .rtf, .text, .s, .cs, .app, .java, .ptt, .pttx. If you can’t see your file in the browser menu, select “All Files”, which will solve the problem.

Q: Is there an upload word limit?

No, you can upload anything from a 200 word paragraph to a 30,000 word dissertation. The only difference is the time it takes to scan!!

Q: Can I submit an paper more then once?

Yes, however if you submit the same exact paper again, it will give you the same results.

Q: How long do the results take?

Viper will analyse your paper against over 10 billion resources and is very accurate - naturally this takes time! :) Depending on the length of your work, the scan can take between 3 to 15 minutes.

Q: What does the percentage mean?

After completing your scan, Viper will give you a percentage score depending on the amount of matches your work has to other resources. Viper also gives you a side-by-side comparison, highlighting the potential areas of plagiarism and also a web link to visit the source.

Q: Does Viper keep a copy of my essay?

Yes, we keep all the essays scanned within a secure database so you gain an accurate plagiarism report from previously submitted essays. Nobody else can access the database including lecturers, universities and other plagiarism scanners.
